Smile Charters is privately owned by Cary Wright and his wife Trish.

Cary's family have enjoyed 'working on water' for generations, mainly on the River Thames & East Coast and have been involved with all types of River work, from Pleasure Boats to Commercial Towage.

Upon leaving school, Cary was to follow generations of family tradition and 'be apprenticed' to the Company of Waterman and Lighterman on the River Thames. During his apprenticeship, Cary worked on many types of craft from Leisure Craft to Commercial Dredging Vessels.

After serving 3 years of his 5 year apprenticeship, Cary decided that he wished to pursue a 'Corporate Career' and to use his academic qualifications and began working in Sales and Marketing for a well known PLC. 

For the last 10 years, Cary has maintained a position of company director for a very successful and well known consultancy business, specialising in document management and primarily dealing with blue-chip organisations throughout the UK.

Trish left her banking background to concentrate on her family and is a catering perfectionist.

Smile Charters has been born out of our passion for boating and the need to deliver a perfect service, without comparrison.

Cary's interests outside of family, work and boating lies solely on the Rugby pitch, although now retired (for the third time!) he is still involved most weeks in reminding people just how great he used to be!

Trish, however, rates shoe-shopping as her indulgence and passion!
